This is a very short week, only two days of school!  There is no spelling this week, but there is a reading reflection log that is to be completed for 7 days of reading that is due on Monday.  This is a great week to use one of those free weeks, some of the children have earned!

Bud Not Buddy Final Book Write ups are due Dec. 2  Students are to choose 1 activity from  EACH of the 7 Bloom Taxonomy pages at the back of their Chapter 12-19 packets.

Chapters 13 and 14 story outline and questions.  I will print the rest on Monday.  If you do not have a printer, students should complete this is in their reading notebooks as was originally planned. 

The final copy of the bibliography is due Thursday.  NO late papers will be accepted unless there is an acceptable reason.

Science quiz is Tuesday.  Students should be studying the new information, and ALL old quizzes.

The Turkey Trot is Thursday beginning at 2pm.  Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather that day.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend.  I was busy sucking up and mulching leaves this weekend.  There are a few things I want to bring to your attention for this week.

First, tomorrow please make sure your child brings what they have written for their Biography Research Paper.

Secondly, on Wednesday there is the Social Studies Memorization  Challenge.  50 states and 50 capital cities.

Lastly, please make sure that your child brings their Bud Not Buddy book and Reading Notebook daily to school.  They should be reading nightly their 12 pages and answering the questions for the chapter that the quiz will be on the next day.  I sent each of you a schedule  for these readings and quizzes in your weekly update email.  

My math students will be having a Chapter 3 assessment on Wednesday.  NEXT Tuesday students will have a quiz on the Respiratory System.  Please make sure they are studying old material as well as the new material.

This Friday is the end of the 1st trimester!  Reports will be coming home December 6.

This Week.....

I cannot believe it is November already, fall is here and December is right around the corner.  In December we will be having a parent meeting to discuss our Outdoor Education trip in February. As soon as we schedule the date, I will let you know know the date and time.  

All 5th graders in Oak Park are reading Bud, Not Buddy , and we will use this as our November novel.  Students need to keep up with the daily reading of 12 pages.  We will read some of those 12 pages in class.  We will still have book discussions groups on Thursdays.
