Weekly News

This week I sent each of you an email about the iLearn Parent Meeting. In order for your child to take an iPad home for assignments, you MUST attend one of the meeting listed, it does not have to be the one at Irving School. 

Grammar Books were due this past Friday.  A new grammar assignment will be given to the students on Monday.  This assignment will be be March 10.

The third NOTECARD CHECK is this Wednesday.  Please make sure your child brings their research bag to school and has all the items that need to checked.

New book discussion novels went home on Thursday, students need to be on their required page for this coming Thursday.

THANK YOU to each of you that helped with our classroom basket.  It was a huge success!  The Irving Fun Fair this year was a great time by all.

ISATs begin next week.  Please begin to discuss the importance of this test, and encourage them to take their time and do their best, as you prepare your child for this testing week.

Tuesday is the science quiz on Swingers.  I will be trying something new with this quiz.  I am actually going to have the students take the quiz on their iPads in a program called Socrative.  I will be putting the paper form of this quiz up on my website as usual with the answers after all students have taken it.

My math students will take a short assessment on double digit divisors on Tuesday as well.  We will begin Unit 7 on Multiplying and Dividing Decimals on Wed.

The Irving Fun Fair is this Saturday.  Please come out and support our Irving PTO Fundraiser!

Weekly UPdate

Tomorrow is our BIG day!  Please make sure your child is at school by 8 a.m. and goes to the auditorium with their luggage. We return on Wed. and your child will be dismissed at 1:55pm.

Thursday we return to our regular schedule.  Art homework is due, and there are 2 assignments that are due THIS Thursday.  There is no school this Friday and the following Monday.  Next week, Tuesday will be the first science quiz on the variables investigation "Swingers".  Students will take home their lab books this Thursday, and it MUST be returned on Tuesday, the day of the quiz.

Please consider donating to our classroom Fun Fair Basket!  I sent a link to sign up genius this past week.  Even if you could donate a few dollars, it would be much appreciated!  This event is a huge money making event for our PTO.  Our PTO is a very generous organization, they sponsored 14 kids for our outdoor ed trip this year that could not afford the whole payment.

Wow,  I think this is going to be a full week of school!  I heard that snow is on its way Tuesday, so I am sure we will have snow for Outdooor Ed.  We (students) are meeting on Thursday as a group to talk about their groups and what to bring and what not to bring.  Students will receive another packing list if they have lost the original one.  If your payment is not in, we need that asap.

All 5th grade teachers will be out of the building at a meeting on Friday, so if you need me for anything I will get back to you as soon as I can sneak away! 

Next Monday ALL students are to be at school at the regular 7:57am bell.  They will bring all their things into the auditorium and will stay there until we leave.  Please remember that they are NOT to bring  FOOD, CANDY, GUM or ELECTRONIC items!  Students may bring a camera as long as it is NOT a phone or ipod. If any of these items do come to school, they will be taken away for the duration of the trip.

The due date for grammar homework was changed to Monday, Feb. 17.
The next science quiz on Swingers is scheduled for Tuesday Feb. 18th.  Tresselt and Ndiaye will have their quiz on Monday, Feb.17.
